Selecting Events to Analyze

After specifying the goals and configuring their settings, select events or touchpoints you'd like to analyze.

  1. Click on Select an event... (1) and select an option from the drop-down list. In this example, select Website Sessions (2).

In this example, we can define the report to show page titles on your website so that you can learn which pages are more often associated with a converted opportunity (desired goal) or an unqualified lead (undesired goal).

Naming Your Event

  1. Upon selecting an event (1), the Name field (2) and the Select Time Dimension field (3) (which is pre-populated with a Time Dimension that is dependent on the selected event) appear. Modifying the Time Dimension is further described in the next few sections of this page.
  2. In the Name field, enter a name that easily describes your event. In this example, name the goal "Page Titles."

Note: You can use the Value feature only once.

  1. In the Value field, click on Select dimension... (1).
  2. Select an option from the drop-down list. Options displayed depend on the data sources you connected to the Dealtale platform. In this example, select utm_source (2).
Note: To search for an option in a long list, type in a few characters of the property name and it will be populated in the menu so you can easily select it.

Based on the Value selection above, what we would see in the final ICP report under the Page Views event, is a list of all the UTM sources and their individual association with opportunities (desired goal) and unqualified leads (undesired goal).
This feature is especially useful when you want to drill down to the details to understand which campaign, piece of content, website page, etc. is more effective and is more often associated with success criteria.

Note: You can use the Filter feature as many times as you want to refine your data.
  2. Click in the filter by field (2) to select a property.
  3. Select an option from the drop-down list. Options displayed depend on the data sources you connected to the Dealtale platform. In this example, we select email_event_type (3).
Note: To search for an option in a long list, type in a few characters of the property name and it will be populated in the menu so you can easily select it.
1348
  1. Upon selecting the property, two more fields appear on the right.
Note: Drop-down options displayed in the middle and right fields depend on the property selected in the left field.
  2. Retain the preselected equals operator in the middle field.
  3. From the drop-down options in the left field, we select CLICK. This will ensure that we are looking only at emails which were clicked on by the receiver, as opposed to all emails which were sent or opened.

Selecting the Time Dimension

When you select an event, the Select Time Dimension field is pre-populated with an option dependent on the selected event. You can, however, modify the selection by clicking on it and selecting from the drop-down options. In this example, we retain the preselected Time Dimensions in Events A, B, and C, which refer to the event's start or create time.
